Gamified habit tracker: turn daily tasks into a garden

A gamified habit tracker gives your daily tasks a visible consequence: finish one, and something grows. Animunda is built that way — every task you tick off earns points that level up creatures called Animas and bring the Cores in your garden closer to manifesting. It is free to start, and it never takes progress away from you.

What a gamified habit tracker actually does

A plain habit tracker records what you did. A gamified one attaches a reward loop to the recording, so the act of finishing a task pays out immediately instead of only showing up in a chart at the end of the month. The loop matters more than the theme. A good one has three parts: an action small enough to do today, a reward that arrives the moment you finish it, and a longer arc that only completes if you keep showing up. Checkbox apps give you the first part. Gamified ones give you all three. In Animunda the action is a task, the immediate reward is points and XP, and the long arc is a creature manifesting from a Core you have been feeding for days.

How one task becomes progress

You create daily tasks, or recurring templates that generate themselves each morning so you are not rewriting the same list. Each task carries a difficulty, from trivial up to legendary, and the points it pays scale with that difficulty. When you complete a task, the points do two jobs at once. They become XP for your active Animas, levelling them up and moving them toward their evolution stages. They also feed the Cores sitting in your garden nests. If you want a bigger payout for a hard session, there is a 2x XP Boost that runs for two hours. Every player can use it; the cooldown between boosts is 48 hours on the free tier and 12 hours for supporters.

Cores, nests and manifesting

A Core is an unhatched creature. You place one in a nest in your garden and it stays there, absorbing the points from every task you complete, until it reaches the threshold for its species. Each species has its own threshold, so a rare creature is genuinely a longer project than a common one. That is the honest version of a progress bar: the thing filling it is the work you actually did this week. Cores come from gameplay milestones, or from the Anima Market if you would rather choose what you are growing. Once a Core manifests, the Anima roams your garden and can be displayed alongside the rest of your collection.

Eight types and six rarities

Every Anima belongs to an elemental type — Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, Dark, Nature or Bug — and sits in one of six rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary or Mythic. Rarer creatures have higher base stats and their own visual designs. The collection is the long game: a garden with every type represented across every rarity is a record of months of consistency, in a form you can look at.

Streaks that pause instead of breaking

Most gamified trackers borrow the wrong half of game design. They use loss — a broken chain, a damaged avatar, a reset counter — because loss is a strong short-term motivator. It is also the reason people quit an app in week three and never open it again. Animunda does not do that. Miss a day and your streak counter pauses; your garden, your Animas and your levels stay exactly where you left them. Nothing is deducted, nothing resets to zero, and there is no notification telling you that you failed. Come back on Thursday after skipping Tuesday and Wednesday, and you continue from where you stopped.

Friends, challenges and the numbers behind it

You can add friends by username, look at their gardens, and send them challenges — competing on daily task completion, total XP earned, or streak length over a set period. Accountability from someone who can see your garden works better than a private reminder. Underneath the game there is still a real tracker. The statistics pages show your completion streak, weekly averages, your most productive days, a breakdown by task category, and lifetime totals. The garden is the motivation; the stats are the evidence.

What it costs and where it runs

Animunda is free, with no credit card at signup, and the free tier includes the core of the product: task management, Core manifesting, the garden, creature collecting, friends and challenges. There is an optional supporter subscription at $3.99 a month, which adds a 1.25x XP bonus and cuts the XP Boost cooldown from 48 hours to 12. It is a supporter tier, not a paywall around the game. It runs as a progressive web app in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone, and you can add it to your home screen. There is no app store download and no install step.

Frequently asked questions

What is a gamified habit tracker?

It is a habit tracker that pays out a game reward the moment you complete a task, instead of only recording it. In Animunda the reward is points that become XP for your creatures and feed the Cores manifesting in your garden.

Is Animunda free?

Yes. The free tier covers task management, Core manifesting, the garden, creature collecting, friends and challenges, and no credit card is needed to sign up. The optional supporter subscription is $3.99 a month for a 1.25x XP bonus and a shorter XP Boost cooldown.

Does a gamified habit tracker punish you for missing a day?

Many do, through streak loss or damage to an avatar. Animunda does not. Your streak counter pauses, your garden and your Animas are untouched, and you pick up whenever you are ready.

How do I earn XP?

By completing tasks. Points scale with the task difficulty, from trivial up to legendary, and become XP for your active Animas. A 2x XP Boost runs for two hours when you activate it, with a 48-hour cooldown on the free tier and 12 hours for supporters.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Animunda is a progressive web app that runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet and mobile, and you can add it to your home screen for an app-like experience.

What are Animas?

Animas are the creatures you collect. Each has an elemental type — Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Light, Dark, Nature or Bug — a rarity from Common to Mythic, and stats that grow as you complete tasks.
